GO Bus

(from Toronto Union Station)

Generally speaking, intercity GO buses travel every hour from Toronto's Union Station to Hamilton city centre, passing by McMaster University along the way. Journey time ranges from about 50 minutes to 70 minutes, depending on the time of day.

Get off the bus at the first Hamilton stop on Main Street West. Walk one block west along Main Street to the first street on your right (Newton Avenue). Turn right onto Newton Avenue and proceed three blocks to King Street. Cross King Street (notice that Newton changes into Sterling Street). From here you have the option of taking a city bus (West Hamilton or University) to campus, or you can walk the remaining six blocks along Sterling Street to the University grounds. You can call the GO Transit Telephone Information Office (in Toronto) at (416) 869-3200 for departure times, or check the schedules online. The relevant services are 15 (McMaster University, Limited Service) and 16 (Hamilton QEW Express).

To return to Toronto, you can catch the GO bus leaving Hamilton at the intersection of King and Dundurn, or from the Hamilton GO station.

The most relevant routes are 5 - Delaware, 51 - University, 1 - King, and 10 - Beeline Express. All current schedule information is here.
